The first physical link in Ghana’s cross-border railway network — 96 km of new line connecting the Port of Tema to the river port of Akosombo.

The Tema–Akosombo line runs from the Port of Tema through to Mpakadan at the river port of Akosombo, spanning approximately 96 km. It forms the first phase of the broader Ghana–Burkina Faso Railway Interconnectivity Project, laying the groundwork for a continuous freight and passenger corridor reaching deep into West Africa’s interior. The line includes four major railway bridges and six stations.
