A new urban railway station designed to connect Milan’s MIND innovation district to the national rail network — integrating civic architecture, structural engineering and sustainable mobility.

The Milano MIND-Merlata station is a new stop on the Milan–Domodossola railway line, positioned between the existing Milan-Certosa and Rho Fiera Milano stations. Commissioned by AREXPO S.p.A., the project serves the MIND (Milan Innovation District) development on the former Expo 2015 site, providing rail access to Cascina Merlata and connecting to the MIC pedestrian and cycle walkway.

Team Group delivered the full technical and economic feasibility design, encompassing the central railway station insertion on the Varese line, vertical connections to the MIC walkway, the passenger building within the MIND site, traveller services, and a cycle-pedestrian ramp adapting the MIC gangway. The structural, geotechnical and hydraulic design components were fully integrated to ensure autonomous operation of both the railway stop and the urban pedestrian connection.
