A cross-border standard gauge railway connecting three Nigerian federal states to the Republic of Niger — designed to carry passengers at 160 km/h and open new freight corridors across the Sahel.

The Kano–Dambatta–Kazaure–Daura–Mashi–Katsina–Jibiya–Maradi railway line spans approximately 284 km, linking the Nigerian states of Kano, Jigawa and Katsina with the city of Maradi across the border in the Republic of Niger. The route serves 15 stations and is designed for mixed operations: express passenger trains at 160 km/h, local passenger services at 120 km/h, standard freight at 100 km/h, and heavy freight with 22.5-tonne axle loads at 80 km/h.

Team Group’s engagement covered two distinct phases: a detailed feasibility study including business case, outline PPP framework and Environmental Impact Assessment, completed between 2014 and 2018; followed by preliminary design, works supervision and design vetting, ongoing since February 2022.
