A 14 km underground metro line threading through the historic heart of Shiraz — connecting the city’s northern and southern districts with 12 underground stations.

Shiraz Metro Line 2 is a heavy metro line running approximately 14 km beneath the city of Shiraz, Iran, forming a key north-south axis in the city’s future metro network. The line connects northern neighbourhoods to the south, crossing a central urbanised area near Emam Hosein Square, where it meets Line 1 at an interchange station. The two lines are connected by a rail link forming part of this project.

The line runs underground from the North Terminus through to the approach to the above-ground depot and workshop facility. The double-track alignment includes 12 underground stations and 1 ground-level station. Twin single-track tunnels are predominantly bored using an EPB tunnelling machine; the 12 underground stations are constructed mainly in cut-and-cover with slurry wall excavations.

Team Group delivered the project in three phases: conceptual design and system specifications including multi-criteria analysis; operational planning, train simulation and full technical and economic design; and preparation of EPC tender documents with assistance during the tender process.
