DESCRIPTION

New rail line between Ajaokuta and Warri, interconnected with the Itakpe-Ajaokuta iron ore rail line for the transportation of iron ore from Itakpe mine to Delta Steel Plant in Aladja (Warri) and for the transportation of coal from Warri to Ajaokuta steel plant.

SERVICES PROVIDED

The project is implemented on fast-track procedure including the studies and design of the rail line, rolling stock, specialist’s systems and handling facilities. The Consultant has provided the following services:

 

  • Feasibility and comparison with other means of transport;
  • aerophotogrammetry and mapping;
  • survey of right of way;
  • preliminary and final engineering design;
  • preparation of contract documents;
  • bid evaluation;
  • back-up design and project monitoring;
  • preparation and evaluation of tenders for rolling stock and signalling & telecommunications systems;
  • stations and ancillary facilities;
  • training of maintenance and management personnel;
  • test runs;
  • commissioning;
  • supervision and control of construction works.
