PROJECT DATE

1984 – 1991

DESCRIPTON

The project foresees the realization of the High-Speed rail line stretch between Arezzo Sud and Figline Valdarno (approximately 44 km) and of the two interconnections for Arezzo Sud and Valdarno Sud.

Main characteristics of the line:

Maximum speed:                                250 Km/h

Slow train speed:                                80 Km/h

Min horizontal radius:                        3.000 m

Max longitudinal gradient:                  7,5% (Tunnels)  /  8,0% (Open line)

Vertical transition curve radius           30.000

In order to respect these characteristics an alignment as free as possible of orographic obstacles has been studied. The result has been obtained through the construction of major structures such as mined and cut and cover tunnels for a total length of 15 Km, numerous bridges and viaducts, the longest being the Arno Viaduct which is 1716 m long, and a great number of minor structures subdivided into hydraulic culverts, overpasses, underpasses, etc. for a total number of 100 structures.

SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Final design of the cut and cover tunnels and of the adit structure to the mined tunnels;
  • Final and detailed design of the minor structures and of the trackside civil works.
