DESCRIPTION
The project involves the construction of a single standard gauge railway line from Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso to the Port of Tema, Ghana’s main port. The proposed route of the rail line in Ghana, as described in the Railway Master Plan of Ghana (2013), is a standard gauge line that will run from the port of Tema towards the east (near the Togo border) through Akosombo to Ho and Yendi in the north with a total length of 468 km. Then, this rail line will run through Tamale (102 km) to link the Central Spine and will continue to Paga (212 km) through Walewale, Bolgatanga and Navrongo.
The cross-border link begins at Paga (Ghana) to connect Dakola (Burkina Faso) and continues to Po, Zambre, Tenkodogo, Garango, Beguedo, Manga, Kombissiri and ending in Ouagadougou with a total of 320 km in Burkina Faso’s territory.
SERVICES PROVIDED
- Phase I: Full Feasibility Study including Front End Engineering Design and Business Case (completed);
- Phase II: Procurement Process, full assistance to the Client in procuring an investor under a public private (PPP) arrangement (ongoing);
- Phase III & IV: Follow-Up Activities, design vetting, supervision and monitoring of the railway construction works up to the final delivery of the infrastructure
