NIGERIA

Nigeria was the first African country in which TEAM Group began their activities. Throughout their successful and long-lasting collaboration, TEAM has been involved in a wide variety of engineering and architecture projects, providing highly specialized assistance to Ministries, Governmental and Local Authorities and private Clients, and has designed public and private buildings, over 700 km of trunk roads and 2500 km of railways.

The span of their activities ranges from participation in the Master Plan for the New Federal Capital of Abuja and the Urban Development Plan of the satellite town of Gwagwalada, to the 25 Year Strategic Vision for the Nigerian Railway System, which led to the Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge Modernization Programme (1,300 km), of which Phase 1 (Idu-Kaduna, 186 km) was commissioned by President Buhari in July 2016.

TEAM has been the consultant to the Government for major transport infrastructure projects, such as the new Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri (330 km) railway system (part of the Central Line) and extensions to Baro (145 km) and Otukpo (205 km); the new Kano-Katsina (175 km) and Kaura Namoda-Sokoto (210 km) links; the major railway bridge over the River Niger at Ajaokuta (2,175m), and numerous Feasibility Studies for new standard gauge railway lines. They also designed the Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX) in the Federal Capital Abuja.

In Nigeria, TEAM also had the opportunity to develop an innovative work method for foundations in water (internationally patented), which was successfully applied to the construction of two major long-span road bridges at Patani (850m) and Kaiama (700m) in the River Niger Delta.
